CIS Board of Trustees extends Kinney contract as Head of School
Columbia Independent School’s Board of Trustees is excited to announce a multi-year contract extension, through June 2028, for Head of School Bridgid Kinney. Kinney was initially named Head of School in 2021, after serving the school in other roles for almost a decade.

Board of Trustees Chair Jack Miller praised Kinney for her leadership skills during pivotal times in the school’s 25-year history, including navigating the pandemic, overseeing continuous enrollment growth, and implementing the board’s strategic plan to ensure the continued success of students. As part of that strategic plan, Kinney is leading a campus expansion project that includes a new upper school building, renovations to the current building, and the addition of a preschool program for three-year-olds. The campus expansion project will be completed in advance of the start of the 2024-25 school year.
“The Board is thrilled to continue its partnership with Mrs. Kinney as the head of school,” Miller said. “Her passion for educational excellence, commitment to the CIS mission, and strong vision for the future of our school make her the right leader for Columbia Independent School, without question.”
Columbia Independent School is a coeducational, nonsectarian, college preparatory school, serving 414 students in junior kindergarten through 12th grade. CIS offers small class sizes focused on individualized learning, global perspectives curriculum at all levels and dedicated, high-quality teachers.
