Kinney named CIS Head of School

On September 14, Columbia Independent School Board of Trustees Chair Jack Miller announced in a letter to the school community that Bridgid Kinney will serve as the school’s official Head of School through June 2025. Mrs. Kinney has been serving as Interim Head of School since April.

“During this time, the board has had a chance to evaluate various options to fill this important leadership position in our school,” Miller shared in the letter. “Our goal has always been to find a collaborative and thoughtful leader who is passionate about the mission of CIS and is committed to the pursuit of educational excellence. While evaluating the skills and personality needed, time and again the board found itself measuring any possibility against the outstanding character, passion, and experience that Mrs. Kinney possesses.”

After owning a successful business for many years, Mrs. Kinney joined CIS in 2013, serving most recently as the Director of Advancement and Operations. In this role, she was responsible for raising millions of dollars and served as an important member of the executive team. She earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Missouri in Spring 2021.

“I am thrilled and honored to lead our CIS community as the Head of School” Kinney says. “This is an exciting time for our school, with record enrollment and great opportunities on the horizon. I feel privileged to have spent the last eight years working with such a talented and committed team of faculty and staff, connecting with our families, and working with our community. I look forward to building on our success.”
