CIS again tops Niche rankings in four categories among Columbia schools
Columbia Independent School (CIS) was ranked first on the 2025 lists of the best private high schools, best college prep private high schools, and best private K-12 schools in Columbia, according to Niche, a Pittsburgh-based provider of information on K-12 schools. CIS also ranked first for STEM learning among all public and private schools in Columbia.
Statewide, CIS ranked 4th on the list of best private K-12 schools in Missouri , 7th on the list of best private high schools in Missouri, and 9th on the list of best high schools for STEM.
When compiling its annual lists, Niche considers a variety of data, including composite ACT/SAT scores, college enrollment rates, student/teacher ratio, culture and diversity, and feedback from parents and students.
“Families from across Central Missouri continue to show interest in CIS because we prepare students for higher education and adulthood,” says Bridgid Kinney, the Head of School at CIS. “Our dedicated faculty and staff are helping students become lifelong learners, leaders and community volunteers. I am proud that Niche recognizes the work we have put into building such a strong educational program.”
