Hello CIS families! I am Jennifer Emmons and I am in my second year of teaching 4th grade at CIS. What a great place to work!
I moved to Columbia almost two years ago after having never moved in my life. Coming from Oklahoma, I didn’t think Missouri would be that different. Everyone in Columbia has welcomed our family with open arms and I am proud to call Columbia my home. My husband and I have three children–two in universities out of state and one starting her junior year in high school. We have enjoyed exploring the area, walking the trails and watching wildlife from our patio. My family loves to travel to many places in the United States and really love exploring National Parks.
I have been in and out of the classroom since 1993. I have been fortunate to have taught children in all grade levels from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Some of the most well behaved, remarkable students that I have taught have been at CIS. I dearly love the growth academically and socially that children have at 9-10 years old. The concepts taught in the earlier grades have given this age of students the ability to read to learn vs. learning to read.
It is also very important to me that I get to know what my students’ interests are outside of school. I enjoy attending sporting events, piano recitals and important religious events in the child’s life.
