Tahsin Schwartz
Class Of 2020,
Alumni Spotlight: Tahsin Schwartz ‘20 — From the halls of CIS to the hospitals of Kansas City, Tahsin Schwartz is charting a remarkable journey in medicine.
Currently in her final year of the prestigious 6-year MD program at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, Tahsin is well on her way to becoming a physician. Her passion for medicine was sparked early — but it was during her time at CIS that her path became clear.
“I’ve always been drawn to medicine,” she shares, “but one of the most influential experiences was taking junior-year anatomy with Dr. Stephanie Golda. She helped me fall in love with the complexity of the human body and gave me a better understanding of how it works.”
Now deep in clinical rotations, Tahsin’s days are as varied as they are rewarding.
“It depends on the rotation — they change every month,” she explains. “But I’ve been in the operating room removing an appendix, in the nursery checking on newborns, and in clinic following my own patients weekly. It’s truly been an honor to be part of their care.”

Her time at CIS helped prepare her not just academically, but personally as well.
“CIS is such a unique place. I was able to be Chief Editor of the yearbook, President of NHS (National Honor Society), and part of the kindergarten mentorship program all at once. That kind of opportunity to lead, connect, and grow was invaluable.”
Tahsin credits CIS’s faculty for their unmatched support:
“The teachers didn’t just challenge me — they believed in me. They made me feel like I could take on anything.”
As she reflects on her journey so far, Tahsin has one key piece of advice for current students and recent graduates:
“Always try new things. It can be scary to step outside your comfort zone, but that’s where the best growth happens — whether it’s trying a new recipe (hello, sushi bake!) or climbing a 14,000-foot mountain in Colorado. Lean into the adventure.”
